My nephew is alcohol dependent, and I really want to get him treated as soon as possible. I want to know how to find addiction treatment centers in our area. Any suggestions?

The links below are lists of the addiction treatment centers in your area. Just peruse through them and inquire so that you may be able to choose the right addiction treatment center for your nephew. You can also take him to a doctor so that he can assess your nephew's situation and give you recommendations. Good luck!

Can anyone help?, i suffer from panick attacks badly, what do other people do and what medications work?

At their worst i drove myself to hospital because i just couldnt calm down and was freezing cold, i would never drive again having one, i thought i wasn't going to make it there i felt that bad, it was really scary. The doctor prescribed me propranolol 40mg which don't have much effect, the more i think about when it's going to happen again, the worse it gets, they say it's anxeity, but i dont feel stressed so i can't understand it, i have heard some people take anti depressants and wondered if i should maybe ask the doctor to change to that?
Answer:
First of all I am sorry to hear about your problem, you need to do two things.

The first is the most important is to try and find the trigger to your attack, although this may be hard keep a record of all events leading up to your attack and try and find the trigger. Once you know you can work out when an attack is about to happen and then you can take the second step.

Learn to breathe properly from the diaphragm this can be taught by a physilogist and with practice will help. This is an alternative to drugs. Ask your GP.

It is important NOT to stop any medication without discussing this with your GP, however a non drug package can be worked out with your doctor.

Good luck!
You need to ask for something JUST for panic attacks. Something like ativan, or valium. I get panic attacks myself and know how scary they can be! sometimes it feels like your going to die! just know that your not alone in this. hope this helped somewhat!
I have the same problem. They have me on 10mg Lexapro and 1mg of Clonazepam up to four x-daily. It's helped significantly with my panic attacks. I was having them every day some fairly severe to where I felt paralyzed, couldnt make decisions etc, its an awful feeling. Since they put me on these I havent had a panic attack in about a month now, so I would go see your regular doctor and tell them ALL your symptoms, they need to know everything to properly prescribe for you.

Good luck and contact me if you ever need someone to chat with!
You are describing anxiety and most everyone will experience this some time in their lives. Although you may not feel stressed there is stress. You would not be human without it. It simply catches up with you. Anti-depressant are commonly used. Such as Paxil, Zoloft, Buspar, Effexor etc. Some doctor suggest you see a therapist as well.
The medication you were given in the ER was a beta blocker. It was given in an effort to slow your heart beat down. This is why you did not really feel "better." Make an appointment to discuss it further with your doctor. And, you are right, do not drive when this occurs. Your judgment is all off when this occurs.
Go back to the doc %26 tell him it isn't helping. There are other beta blockers which may suit you better - they have to start with something - it doesn't mean it will be the right one for you.

Good luck with this - believe me it gets better and worrying about it DOES make it worse!
i suffer from panic attacks when im under alot of stress i have found green tea is good for stress and there is lots of herbal remadys too i dont recon anti depressants thay are very addictive and messed my head up(A GOOD BROWN PAPPER BAG DOES THE TRICK TOO)
I definately know what you're going through, I've been having panic attacks since I was around 12 or 13. The best advice I can give you is to do a LOT of research. The internet is an excellent resource. Also, don't go to your doctor and just accept whatever prescription he gives you, trusting it'll work-- sit down with him/her and discuss your options together.

Panic attacks are tricky to deal with because not everyone experiences the same sensations and not everyone has the same triggers (a lot of people don't even *have* triggers), so doing some research could really help you and your doctor to better understand what's happening and what your options are. I've read some studies that say anti-depressants might actually make panic attacks worse, not to mention they can also cause a lot of other problems.

I really hope I've been able to help you somehow. I truly know how scary it is. If you have any more questions or just need someone to talk to, don't hesitate to send me an e-mail!

Can anyone help me? i'm desperate...?

i have a serious problem with drinking and i have for about 4 years now. i want to find a treatment center but i dont have the money. i just want help. does anyone have any options?
Answer:
First of all wow, that is soooo great you even admit you have a drinking problem. My mom would never admit it then died at the young age of 42 from serosus (however it's spelled) of the liver. She didn't see me graduate highschool, get married and see the birth of her granson. She just wouldnt admit she had a problem. So, bless you, i hope the best for you. I think if you start calling local hospitals someone can lead you to a place that is free. good luck...
Go to Alcoholics Anonymous.
That sucks. Wish I could help. What city?
Go to AA meetings, there are people there that can help you and maybe find a facility for you as well.
smoke pot
Please call your local A.A. chapter. They have all kinds of resources that will help you and for free or VERY little charge. Good luck!
There is a drug that makes the alcohol taste horrible to you. If it cannot be prescribed in the USA, try Mexico.
Try to talk to ur friends and work towards it the rest will fall into place and your goals will manifest themselves.
some centers offer state beds meaning they are paid for by the state but theres usually a waiting list but still check it out also try some AA meeting there only an hour long and they help alot you can usually meet somepeople that are glad to help you out
your local community health centre should have free services to help you.
I would suggest that you talk to a friend or a close relative that can help you and give you the support needed. It is so much easier to get through tough times when you have the support from people around you. Look in your yellow pages. There should be a hotline number that yo can call for free and get as much info. as you need. I hope all is well with you!
AA... Its worked for quite a bit of people I know.
It doesnt cost to go to a meeting.
Try AA meetings they are free, and they are offered all over everyday of the week even holidays.. Some have them more than once a day. Start with local churches they will be able to help you out. Some churches even have emergency funds that they may be able to dip into and send you to a detox place.

Good luck, and I am not sure how you feel about this, but I'll pray for. God can pick us up no matter how far into the pit we have fallen.
Drink water
If you go to a Local Church, there are people who would be willing to help you there. They have wonderful groups for people w/ addictions and problems that they just can't seem to deal with on their own. The support w/ a church family is an awesome experience!! They are not there to judge, just to help and give encouragement, and also make you feel very special. PRAYER DOES DO WONDERS!! I WILL PRAY FOR YOU!! (:
Let me know how it turns out for you!! (:
God Bless You!!
Look in your phone book under the blue pages and find a local AA.They will be able to help you or point you in the right direction.Admitting you have a problem is the first step, and that's exactly what you did.Good luck!
Alcohol is a drug like any other.
There are many questions you must ask yourself first:
What are you prepared to sacrifice to become alcohol free?
Are you ready?
and many others, but you get the picture.
I suggest you get a friend to drop you off at a far out dwelling, no money, no credit card, only a fridge full of food and some books and CDs.check on you in two days, etc until you decide that you need to exercise, eat lots of fruit and veg, get a good job and partner or pet.
If you lapse into melancholy or depression than you may need antidepressants, however these also can be addictive, You will need help.

Can Anyone Help Me out with this?

Hi

I'm a 20 year old guy from North East, Uk. and i think i may be suffering some sort of depression, but i'm not sure if i'm right or not.

I was with a girl last year for around 8 months, towards the end of the relationship there was a time when i couldn't 'get it up' so to speak.i panicked and started having anxiety attacks all the time without warning. Ever since then ( nearly a year ) i haven't been able to get a substantial erection, i know its all in my head but it's horrible.

I smoke weed, maybe too much. but i don't drink a lot and i do go to the gym.

I can feel myself becoming more detached from my friends, not wanting to go out...and when i do the only thing on my mind is what i mentioned before..

The relationship ended very badly, with her starting a relationship with someone else and never speaking to me again... i think that may of hammered my self esteem coupled with the other thing, it just made me a wreck. any advice on who i could go see? doc or psych
Answer:
The fact that you have recognised this is a good thing. Go and see your GP. You may not need any drugs, but just a bit of counselling.

I would also stop smoking weed. Long term use can mess with your mind, and give you the kind of thoughts you are experiencing.
I'm a girl but I would think you should see an MD first. Rule out any of that stuff. Hopefully, it's something simple to fix.

...as for the girl, did you ever explain to her that it had nothing to do with your attraction to her? She probably thought you didn't like her anymore.
you need to go see a doctor because they can give you drugs to help overcome that. plus you need to make sure that is nothing seriously wrong.
Stop using weed, keep on at the gym (I'm sure you've got some friends there), think positive about the good things in your life and in your past (forget the bad times!) and 'time' will heal the rest.
Hi! I鈥檓 so sorry to hear you are feeling bad. Weed is really bad for anxiety and self-esteen (in some people), so try to cut it out. The following steps usually elimate anxiety and panic attacks:

1. Breathe properly - if you control your breathing, you control panic. As soon as you notice the signs of anxiety, check your breathing: breathe in slowly through your nose pushing your tummy out (to the count of 5 or so). Breathe out slowly and for a bit longer (to the count of 7 or so) through your mouth. Do not breathe rapidly or shallowly (in the chest area). This will soon restore the balance of oxygen and you will feel a lot better.

2. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy! CBT is proven to be the most effective thing for panic attacks and anxiety. It takes a bit of work, but it is super effective. (After 15 years of panic attacks, mine stopped completely). You can take a course for free online at: http://www.livinglifetothefull.com/elear... It has been funded by NHS Scotland and has had great results thus far.

3. Try relaxation exercise tapes (progressive muscular relaxation). They really help if you practise often enough. This site has instructions on how to do it without the tapes (and other useful info): http://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/resource...

I don鈥檛 know if these steps will help you unless you cut out the weed. Best of luck.

Can anyone help me how to gain some height?

i am 16 years old and i am 5'3.1/2 do you think that i could grow some more like around 3-5 inches maybe? can you give me some tips how to gain some heights? thanks y'all...
Answer:
sadly at 16 you may be done growing but Pilate's is a good way to make your muscles long and lean making you look taller.

Also wear skinny legged jeans and platform type sandals and shoes they give the effect of being taller.
hun, all you can do is hope for the best, and trust me..you will get taller.
I NEVER HEARD OF ANYTHING TO HELP YOU GET TALL
I don't think that is possible... unless you get surgery on your knees.

Can anyone help me find an addiction treatment center in Temple, Texas?

I'm really worried about my mother. It used to be that she's the one constantly worrying about me, but things have changed and now I feel like I'm the mother and she's the child. The thing is, ever since my dad moved out of the house, she just kept on turning to alcohol. She would drink a lot and eat little, and she seems not to care anymore about what happens to her. When she got fired from her job, I guess that's when the gravity of her actions finally hit her. When I talked to her, it did seem as if she really wants to get her life back on track. I just want to know how I am going to be able to find an addiction treatment center for her.
Answer:
The links below will be able to help you out in your search. Just make sure to inquire about their treatment methods, etc. It would also be good if you can bring your mother to a doctor. The doctor will then be able to check up on her properly, as well as tell you what kind of treatment program will be best for her and which treatment centers will be able to give her this kind of treatment. I'm really sorry about what's been happening to your family. I sincerely hope that your mother will get well soon. Just stay by her and keep on hoping. Good luck.
If she really wants help, that's great. It's the first step.

Here is a list of treatment centers in that area.
http://alcoholism.about.com/od/tx_tx/tex...

And don't discount AA. If she needs someone to talk to RIGHT NOW, she can call---they have a 24 hour hotline:
(254) 770-4629
Look for your local a-lanon group.
This is for kids and family of alcoholics. They can help you. Google Al-Anon meetings and look for your city.
good luck.

Can anyone help me because I'm finding it hard to swallow and breathe.?

Swallowing is worse than breathing. It seems that my neck is smaller and is tight. I can't sleep and it's uncomfortable. Any one know what this might be?
Answer:
I cannot answer this without asking a few more questions. How long has this been happening? Do you have a fever? Have you been bitten by an insect in the past few hours? Are you allergic to anything?

Most sudden onset swallowing and breathing issues are allergy related or infection related such as strep throat.

Are you using any neck muscles to breath? Do you have to tilt your head forward or stretch your neck to get air? if so call 911 or get in to see a medical professional now.

Feel free to IM me if you want to answer my questions.
you seem to type okay.
Could be your tonsils if you still have them, you could have a sore throat, or septic tonsils, or an allergic reaction to something in the air or that you ate, you may need an antibiotic if its an infection, do the bright thing and let a doctor examine you, breathing and swallowing are considered to be important where I come from.planet earth.
go to the emergency room!! NOW!
You might be having an allergic reaction to something... I'd take a benedryl just in case and call a clinic that is open on Sundays and explain your symptoms so they can give you suggestions on what to do... Don't take too much time to do this though, because if this keeps up, your throat could close off completely.
You should go to hospital in case of allergic reaction. If you still have this problem and don't have any other diagnosis, I would guess that you are having panic attacks.
