Can anyone here tell me how to find addiction treatment centers in Eureka Springs, Arkansas?

My nephew is alcohol dependent, and I really want to get him treated as soon as possible. I want to know how to find addiction treatment centers in our area. Any suggestions?
Answer:
The links below are lists of the addiction treatment centers in your area. Just peruse through them and inquire so that you may be able to choose the right addiction treatment center for your nephew. You can also take him to a doctor so that he can assess your nephew's situation and give you recommendations. Good luck!
The Internet is a great resource. Go to www.Arkansas.com, Or go to Ask.com All else fells go to your medical personnel or and Library

Can anyone help?, i suffer from panick attacks badly, what do other people do and what medications work?

At their worst i drove myself to hospital because i just couldnt calm down and was freezing cold, i would never drive again having one, i thought i wasn't going to make it there i felt that bad, it was really scary. The doctor prescribed me propranolol 40mg which don't have much effect, the more i think about when it's going to happen again, the worse it gets, they say it's anxeity, but i dont feel stressed so i can't understand it, i have heard some people take anti depressants and wondered if i should maybe ask the doctor to change to that?
Answer:
First of all I am sorry to hear about your problem, you need to do two things.

The first is the most important is to try and find the trigger to your attack, although this may be hard keep a record of all events leading up to your attack and try and find the trigger. Once you know you can work out when an attack is about to happen and then you can take the second step.

Learn to breathe properly from the diaphragm this can be taught by a physilogist and with practice will help. This is an alternative to drugs. Ask your GP.

It is important NOT to stop any medication without discussing this with your GP, however a non drug package can be worked out with your doctor.

Good luck!
You need to ask for something JUST for panic attacks. Something like ativan, or valium. I get panic attacks myself and know how scary they can be! sometimes it feels like your going to die! just know that your not alone in this. hope this helped somewhat!
I have the same problem. They have me on 10mg Lexapro and 1mg of Clonazepam up to four x-daily. It's helped significantly with my panic attacks. I was having them every day some fairly severe to where I felt paralyzed, couldnt make decisions etc, its an awful feeling. Since they put me on these I havent had a panic attack in about a month now, so I would go see your regular doctor and tell them ALL your symptoms, they need to know everything to properly prescribe for you.

Good luck and contact me if you ever need someone to chat with!
You are describing anxiety and most everyone will experience this some time in their lives. Although you may not feel stressed there is stress. You would not be human without it. It simply catches up with you. Anti-depressant are commonly used. Such as Paxil, Zoloft, Buspar, Effexor etc. Some doctor suggest you see a therapist as well.
The medication you were given in the ER was a beta blocker. It was given in an effort to slow your heart beat down. This is why you did not really feel "better." Make an appointment to discuss it further with your doctor. And, you are right, do not drive when this occurs. Your judgment is all off when this occurs.
Go back to the doc %26 tell him it isn't helping. There are other beta blockers which may suit you better - they have to start with something - it doesn't mean it will be the right one for you.

Good luck with this - believe me it gets better and worrying about it DOES make it worse!
i suffer from panic attacks when im under alot of stress i have found green tea is good for stress and there is lots of herbal remadys too i dont recon anti depressants thay are very addictive and messed my head up(A GOOD BROWN PAPPER BAG DOES THE TRICK TOO)
I definately know what you're going through, I've been having panic attacks since I was around 12 or 13. The best advice I can give you is to do a LOT of research. The internet is an excellent resource. Also, don't go to your doctor and just accept whatever prescription he gives you, trusting it'll work-- sit down with him/her and discuss your options together.

Panic attacks are tricky to deal with because not everyone experiences the same sensations and not everyone has the same triggers (a lot of people don't even *have* triggers), so doing some research could really help you and your doctor to better understand what's happening and what your options are. I've read some studies that say anti-depressants might actually make panic attacks worse, not to mention they can also cause a lot of other problems.

I really hope I've been able to help you somehow. I truly know how scary it is. If you have any more questions or just need someone to talk to, don't hesitate to send me an e-mail!

Can anyone help me? i'm desperate...?

i have a serious problem with drinking and i have for about 4 years now. i want to find a treatment center but i dont have the money. i just want help. does anyone have any options?
Answer:
First of all wow, that is soooo great you even admit you have a drinking problem. My mom would never admit it then died at the young age of 42 from serosus (however it's spelled) of the liver. She didn't see me graduate highschool, get married and see the birth of her granson. She just wouldnt admit she had a problem. So, bless you, i hope the best for you. I think if you start calling local hospitals someone can lead you to a place that is free. good luck...
Go to Alcoholics Anonymous.
That sucks. Wish I could help. What city?
Go to AA meetings, there are people there that can help you and maybe find a facility for you as well.
smoke pot
Please call your local A.A. chapter. They have all kinds of resources that will help you and for free or VERY little charge. Good luck!
There is a drug that makes the alcohol taste horrible to you. If it cannot be prescribed in the USA, try Mexico.
Try to talk to ur friends and work towards it the rest will fall into place and your goals will manifest themselves.
some centers offer state beds meaning they are paid for by the state but theres usually a waiting list but still check it out also try some AA meeting there only an hour long and they help alot you can usually meet somepeople that are glad to help you out
your local community health centre should have free services to help you.
I would suggest that you talk to a friend or a close relative that can help you and give you the support needed. It is so much easier to get through tough times when you have the support from people around you. Look in your yellow pages. There should be a hotline number that yo can call for free and get as much info. as you need. I hope all is well with you!
AA... Its worked for quite a bit of people I know.
It doesnt cost to go to a meeting.
Try AA meetings they are free, and they are offered all over everyday of the week even holidays.. Some have them more than once a day. Start with local churches they will be able to help you out. Some churches even have emergency funds that they may be able to dip into and send you to a detox place.

Good luck, and I am not sure how you feel about this, but I'll pray for. God can pick us up no matter how far into the pit we have fallen.
Drink water
If you go to a Local Church, there are people who would be willing to help you there. They have wonderful groups for people w/ addictions and problems that they just can't seem to deal with on their own. The support w/ a church family is an awesome experience!! They are not there to judge, just to help and give encouragement, and also make you feel very special. PRAYER DOES DO WONDERS!! I WILL PRAY FOR YOU!! (:
Let me know how it turns out for you!! (:
God Bless You!!
Look in your phone book under the blue pages and find a local AA.They will be able to help you or point you in the right direction.Admitting you have a problem is the first step, and that's exactly what you did.Good luck!
Alcohol is a drug like any other.
There are many questions you must ask yourself first:
What are you prepared to sacrifice to become alcohol free?
Are you ready?
and many others, but you get the picture.
I suggest you get a friend to drop you off at a far out dwelling, no money, no credit card, only a fridge full of food and some books and CDs.check on you in two days, etc until you decide that you need to exercise, eat lots of fruit and veg, get a good job and partner or pet.
If you lapse into melancholy or depression than you may need antidepressants, however these also can be addictive, You will need help.

Can Anyone Help Me out with this?

Hi

I'm a 20 year old guy from North East, Uk. and i think i may be suffering some sort of depression, but i'm not sure if i'm right or not.

I was with a girl last year for around 8 months, towards the end of the relationship there was a time when i couldn't 'get it up' so to speak.i panicked and started having anxiety attacks all the time without warning. Ever since then ( nearly a year ) i haven't been able to get a substantial erection, i know its all in my head but it's horrible.

I smoke weed, maybe too much. but i don't drink a lot and i do go to the gym.

I can feel myself becoming more detached from my friends, not wanting to go out...and when i do the only thing on my mind is what i mentioned before..

The relationship ended very badly, with her starting a relationship with someone else and never speaking to me again... i think that may of hammered my self esteem coupled with the other thing, it just made me a wreck. any advice on who i could go see? doc or psych
Answer:
The fact that you have recognised this is a good thing. Go and see your GP. You may not need any drugs, but just a bit of counselling.

I would also stop smoking weed. Long term use can mess with your mind, and give you the kind of thoughts you are experiencing.
I'm a girl but I would think you should see an MD first. Rule out any of that stuff. Hopefully, it's something simple to fix.

...as for the girl, did you ever explain to her that it had nothing to do with your attraction to her? She probably thought you didn't like her anymore.
you need to go see a doctor because they can give you drugs to help overcome that. plus you need to make sure that is nothing seriously wrong.
Stop using weed, keep on at the gym (I'm sure you've got some friends there), think positive about the good things in your life and in your past (forget the bad times!) and 'time' will heal the rest.
Hi! I鈥檓 so sorry to hear you are feeling bad. Weed is really bad for anxiety and self-esteen (in some people), so try to cut it out. The following steps usually elimate anxiety and panic attacks:

1. Breathe properly - if you control your breathing, you control panic. As soon as you notice the signs of anxiety, check your breathing: breathe in slowly through your nose pushing your tummy out (to the count of 5 or so). Breathe out slowly and for a bit longer (to the count of 7 or so) through your mouth. Do not breathe rapidly or shallowly (in the chest area). This will soon restore the balance of oxygen and you will feel a lot better.

2. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy! CBT is proven to be the most effective thing for panic attacks and anxiety. It takes a bit of work, but it is super effective. (After 15 years of panic attacks, mine stopped completely). You can take a course for free online at: http://www.livinglifetothefull.com/elear... It has been funded by NHS Scotland and has had great results thus far.

3. Try relaxation exercise tapes (progressive muscular relaxation). They really help if you practise often enough. This site has instructions on how to do it without the tapes (and other useful info): http://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/resource...

I don鈥檛 know if these steps will help you unless you cut out the weed. Best of luck.

Answer:

Also wear skinny legged jeans and platform type sandals and shoes they give the effect of being taller.

I NEVER HEARD OF ANYTHING TO HELP YOU GET TALL
I don't think that is possible... unless you get surgery on your knees.

Can anyone help me find an addiction treatment center in Temple, Texas?

I'm really worried about my mother. It used to be that she's the one constantly worrying about me, but things have changed and now I feel like I'm the mother and she's the child. The thing is, ever since my dad moved out of the house, she just kept on turning to alcohol. She would drink a lot and eat little, and she seems not to care anymore about what happens to her. When she got fired from her job, I guess that's when the gravity of her actions finally hit her. When I talked to her, it did seem as if she really wants to get her life back on track. I just want to know how I am going to be able to find an addiction treatment center for her.
Answer:
The links below will be able to help you out in your search. Just make sure to inquire about their treatment methods, etc. It would also be good if you can bring your mother to a doctor. The doctor will then be able to check up on her properly, as well as tell you what kind of treatment program will be best for her and which treatment centers will be able to give her this kind of treatment. I'm really sorry about what's been happening to your family. I sincerely hope that your mother will get well soon. Just stay by her and keep on hoping. Good luck.
If she really wants help, that's great. It's the first step.

Here is a list of treatment centers in that area.
http://alcoholism.about.com/od/tx_tx/tex...

And don't discount AA. If she needs someone to talk to RIGHT NOW, she can call---they have a 24 hour hotline:
(254) 770-4629
Look for your local a-lanon group.
This is for kids and family of alcoholics. They can help you. Google Al-Anon meetings and look for your city.
good luck.

Can anyone help me because I'm finding it hard to swallow and breathe.?

Swallowing is worse than breathing. It seems that my neck is smaller and is tight. I can't sleep and it's uncomfortable. Any one know what this might be?
Answer:
I cannot answer this without asking a few more questions. How long has this been happening? Do you have a fever? Have you been bitten by an insect in the past few hours? Are you allergic to anything?

Most sudden onset swallowing and breathing issues are allergy related or infection related such as strep throat.

Are you using any neck muscles to breath? Do you have to tilt your head forward or stretch your neck to get air? if so call 911 or get in to see a medical professional now.

Feel free to IM me if you want to answer my questions.
you seem to type okay.
Could be your tonsils if you still have them, you could have a sore throat, or septic tonsils, or an allergic reaction to something in the air or that you ate, you may need an antibiotic if its an infection, do the bright thing and let a doctor examine you, breathing and swallowing are considered to be important where I come from.planet earth.
go to the emergency room!! NOW!
You might be having an allergic reaction to something... I'd take a benedryl just in case and call a clinic that is open on Sundays and explain your symptoms so they can give you suggestions on what to do... Don't take too much time to do this though, because if this keeps up, your throat could close off completely.
You should go to hospital in case of allergic reaction. If you still have this problem and don't have any other diagnosis, I would guess that you are having panic attacks.

Can anyone give more details about this product called (glutathione?)i?

Answer:
Glutathione is a naturally occurring substance that some say acts as an antioxidant, an immune system booster, and a detoxifier. Some also claim that it can help your body repair damage caused by stress, pollution, radiation, infection, drugs, poor diet, aging, injury, trauma, and burns, etc. As to it's effectiveness, I'll leave that up you and those more knowledgeable than me to decide.

Here is a good generic description of glutathione:

And here's more:

Can anyone give me tips on how I can pick up my social life after going through alcohol rehabilitation?

All the friends I have are those that are alcoholics, or those who are still inside rehab. My old friends would be willing to take me back into their circle, but I'm not even sure if I want to be back there again. It took me months before I went sober, and I don't think I'll continue on being sober if they're constantly there, flaunting alcoholic beverages in front of me. I need new friends. What can I do?
Answer:
Do you have any hobbies? Interests that you haven't yet pursued? Maybe you love singing. Joining a chorale or a music workshop would be good for you. Or maybe you'd like to take painting lessons. Just go out there and put yourself in a place where you can be with people that you share common interests with. Not only would you be learning something new and doing something that you want to do, you'll also be sure to get new friends too. Good luck!
go out to the pub
get involved with your group, and when the time is right,a realationship will just happen, take this time to work on you,and call your sponsor !

Can Anyone Give Me Some Exercises To Get Rid Of Back Pain?

Can anyone give me some simple exercises to get rid of my back pain its started a few hours ago and its like in the middle of my back.
Answer:
If it has just started, the best thing to do is to rest. It is most likely a pulled muscle. If you have actually done something more serious, like ruptured a disc, then there are specific excercises that a good physical therapist can recommend.

If you just HAVE to try something right now, you can always try leg lifts. Lie flat on your back and raise one leg at a time about a hand's width off the ground. Hold for 5 seconds. Lower your leg and do the other leg. Repeat one leg after the other. Keep in mind though, that unless its not serious, this is not going to be a quick fix.
You don't exercise back pain, you rest, apply heat and take pain killers and get someone to massage it.
Go and walk around in the pool... don't swim... just walk around...
It works...
lay flat on your back with your hands by your side palms on floor, pull knees up to your chest gently roll hips from side to side don't over do it! swimming the best exercise
Purchase yourself a "tens" machine, it is pure heaven for back pain.

Can anyone give me info on digoxen the results of having too much of this medication in the body?

My elderly mother who has dementia refuses to stay in the hospital shes not eating much and has too much digoxen in her body, my stepfather will not have her forced to stay in hospital, She is also dehydrated, Is this digoxen poisoning going to kill her, I feel so helpless, she doesn't know who I am and I haven't seen her. Does anyone know about digoxen?
Answer:
If you can make sure you step-father or whoever her care giver might be is not overdosing her with the Digoxin. Do you know what level Dementia your mother has? How long has she suffered from it? I work with the elderly and some tips for helping her with the dehydration is to have other things around with a lot of water in them ( perhaps leave a small plate of watermelon around if she has a favorite drink make it readily available) dehydration is quite common because they forget or will refuse to drink water. When talking to a dementia patient it is always good to use leading questions and conversation instead of anything that might be more like a command for instance.

Wow I'm really thirsty.
Do you think they have water here?
DO you think we could go get some?

Let it seem like there idea and they will be more responsive. Try to keep conversation short and simple they get confused very easily. Watch out for glare or windows that might cast a lot of shadows because it can be very frustrating or confusing. As far as colors never wear white dementia patients cant see white. So if your in a full white suit you will look like a floating head quite scary. Wear contrasting colors to reduce confusion. Black pants green shirt purple shirt ect.

If your stepfather has not tired it yet maybe try to take her to a boarding home or a retirement/assisted living home an there is always the option of a live in caregiver who is trained to work with dementia patients.

I hope this helps and if you need anything else you can e-mail me if you'd like. eawolfe22@hotmail.com

P.S. Here is a page with tons of info on Digoxin http://www-clinpharm.medschl.cam.ac.uk/p...

Can anyone explain why does one get frozen feet??

My feet are generally frozen...I get under 2 duvets, rub them, and after a few hours they are still cold...can anyone explain why does this happen??
Thanks
Answer:
Feet and toes are generally the coldest parts of the body because they are the farthest away from the heart. Ideally it would be helpful for you to increase the blood flow to your extremities through constant activity. Also look into foods that thin your blood to make it easier to pump, such as water and anything with sugar.

A temporary solution would be to put your feet in warm water, then progressively add hot water as your feet get acclimated to the temperature. Hope this helps!
cold feet is a sign of vitamin defficiency,or you are under stress,it is preferable that you consult a physician and get the proper treatment.but nothing to worry for.
When you find out, do let me know. I'm the exact same way. Hubby not too happy when I try to warm them up as he sleeps hot. ?

Can anyone else shake their eyes?

For as long as I can remember, I have been able to shake my eyes. It looks, from other people's perspectives, like my eyes are vibrating from side to side. From my view, it looks lke I'm in an earthquake. I can do this whenever I feel like it, and it also tends to happen when I'm really concentrating on something, and/or if I'm tired. Anyone heard of this before, or know what it is?
Answer:
Cool!!!!
oooo i can {and i though i was a wirdo}
Nope, never heard of that! I can't imagine it being very good for your eyes, doesn't it make them ache?
ermm.. no i can't say i've ever had that lmao, but it sounds well cool !!
Don't know what this is called but I can do it anytime and it freaks people out. I'd love to see how it looks as I can't see it for myself.
Well, I can shake my one eyed snake, wanna see?
haha ya m cousin cna do that. and if you shine a light in her eyes they go really crazy and shake more..
no but its cool
I don't know what it is but i can do it as well. I tend to use it as a bit of a party trick though.

Its a strange feeling, the world does look as if it moving violently from side to side - if i do it for longer than 10 seconds i start to get a bit of a headache. so i try not to do it that much!

How did you find out you could do it?
lol
never heard of this before..
girl you got skills lol..
drop by sumtym and show me!!
Yes! My friend at school could do it and it was quite disturbing to watch! I think all it is, is you've managed to harness control over the muscles behind your eyes and send them into voluntary spasms. It's quite rare though, so it's a kinda unique talent to have!

I can partially dislocated my shoulders and hips...
yeah i can do the exact same thing. it sometimes happens when i'm tired too! never known anyone else who can do it ,people ask me to teach them but its like trying to teach someone to blink it 's just something i can naturally do.
I CAN. I CAN DO IT. I ALWAYS CAN DO IT. It all goes shaky and people go urrr and look away. I can scare people. i am scary to people. hahaha.
i can !
Can you invision seeing money? Or are the tears just from overcharging?

Can anyone else purposely 'pop' there ears?

I could purposely make my ears crackle, or 'pop'.
Answer:
Anybody can do that. Just hold your nose, blow air from your nose, and your ears will pop.

If you could do it without holding your nose, that would probably be unusual.
Most people can. You have to be able to to scuba dive.

Can anyone cite a legitimate study proving the "dangers" of second hand smoke?

I'm only interested in a controlled study that has been properly published and subjected to peer review.

.
Answer:
No, I can not cite a legitimate study, but think about this. The first few times that you are around people who smoke, the smoke happens to be right in your face, what do you do? Do you act as if every is normal ro even enjoy the smell of it, or does your eyes turn red possible even get watery and perphaps you even cough loudly? If the first is true in your case then most likely, there will not be a proven study on 2nd hand smoke. If the latter is true, then there is no need for a legitimate study on the dangers as these symptoms will only get more acute as the exposure continues.
Use a clean air filter in a room where only smoking is done and analyze the components that the filter catches.

Remember to put another one in a room with an automobile and test that one and find out which is worse being with a smoker for a day or breathing automobile fumes from one car in a day.

Maybe all those high death statistics from smokers on smoggie daze is from second hand smoke

Too bad all those econd hand smokers also smoke tailpipes perhaps second hand cigarette smoke saves cancer from second hand tail pipe smoke.

After all it is slightly more biodegradable

Can anybody tell me who discovered/invented heroin?

I would also like to know what it was intended to be for. Drug addiction was just discussed in class and the topic of drug addiction came up, and this was the bonus question. If I get this right, I get incentives, which I really need. Please include sources. Thank you.
Answer:
Heinrich Dreser, a German physician, discovered heroin in 1895. He mixed acetyls with morphine, and thus, heroin was created. Heroin was then marketed by the Bayer company. At first, it was believed to counter morphine addiction, and that it had no side effects. However, this proved to be untrue.
1st answer is cool.
You take a poppy, preferably "Papaver somniferum", make little slits on the bud and white stuff oozes out. When it turns dark, it's opium. This is collected and processed into morphine.Further processing creates heroine which, oddly enough, reverts to its morphine state when introduced into one's system.
LONG ANSWER -

Heroin was first synthesized in 1874 by C.R. Alder Wright, an English chemist working at St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, England. He had been experimenting with combining morphine with various acids. He boiled anhydrous morphine alkaloid with acetic anhydride over a stove for several hours and produced a more potent, acetylated form of morphine, now called diacetylmorphine. The compound was sent to F.M. Pierce of Owens College in Manchester for analysis, who reported the following to Wright:

Doses ... were subcutaneously injected into young dogs and rabbits ... with the following general results ... great prostration, fear, and sleepiness speedily following the administration, the eyes being sensitive, and pupils constrict, considerable salivation being produced in dogs, and slight tendency to vomiting in some cases, but no actual emesis. Respiration was at first quickened, but subsequently reduced, and the heart's action was diminished, and rendered irregular. Marked want of coordinating power over the muscular movements, and loss of power in the pelvis and hind limbs, together with a diminution of temperature in the rectum of about 4掳 (rectal failure).[5]
Wright's invention, however, did not lead to any further developments, and heroin became popular after it was independently re-synthesized 23 years later by another chemist, Felix Hoffmann. Hoffmann, working at the Bayer pharmaceutical company in Elberfeld, Germany, was instructed by his supervisor Heinrich Dreser to acetylate morphine with the objective of producing codeine, a natural derivative of the opium poppy, similar to morphine but less potent and less addictive. But instead of producing codeine, the experiment produced a substance that was actually three times more potent than morphine itself. Bayer would name the substance "heroin", probably from the word heroisch, German for heroic, because in field studies people using the medicine felt "heroic".[6]

From 1898 through to 1910 heroin was marketed as a non-addictive morphine substitute and cough medicine for children. Bayer marketed heroin as a cure for morphine addiction before it was discovered that heroin is converted to morphine when metabolized in the liver. The company was somewhat embarrassed by this new finding and it became a historical blunder for Bayer.[7]

As with aspirin, Bayer lost some of its trademark rights to heroin following the German defeat in World War I. [8]

Can any1 tell me any good hearing aid places in the north east?

hi i have been hard of hearing all my life and am 21 i have hearing aids but i havent worn them for 10 years and i now i want the 1s you can hide. i found a center near were i live and gave me a free test today and my left ear has got worse but i have lost 35 to 40 per cent in my right ear and said that my ears r to small for the 1s to hide. and if i really wanted some it would cost me a few grand for them say 2 grand per ear. dose any1 know any cheap places i could go to thanks. apart from the nhs cos there **** thanks.
Answer:
Well I have a hearing aid and have NHS ones. The digital ones are OK , but do not completely hide in the ear,,I also used Boots who have audio centres in their larger stores. I found their testing very good. The very expensive aids do not work any better than the medium priced ones but are the inconspicuous sort so you pay a lot more money for cosmetic or vanity reasons. You have to accept you are hard of hearing and need an aid , It is your choice an aid that works well and costs say 拢500 but is a bit bulky behind the ear type or a completely hidden in the ear type, that works exactly the same but costs 拢2000 . the choice is yours. If you opt for the cheaper you might as well get an NHS digital model. They work just as well as the private 拢500 ones.

Can any of the ingredients in extra strength tums with calcium cause Reye Syndrome?

Now I know it's probably rare for someome in their early 20's. (20 to be exact) to come across this problem. But I was wondering if taking Tums extra strength w/ calcium while having an congested chest / cold could damage someone that age. I mean, the only things to worry about I suppose would be reye syndrome. how common is it? and what are the symptoms? There is only diareah and chest congestion / stomache aches involved. Also very weak and light headed. Those are the things I'm experiencing. Thank you!
Answer:
No its from aspirin

Can any body out there tell me how long hot flushes and night sweats last,i've been suffering for a year now

Answer:
I am assuming you are peri-menopausal. I am sorry to say that, worst scenario, these symptoms can persist for up to 4-5 years if you are very unlucky.

HRT is still licenced for first line use to treat menopausal symptoms. Depending on your age and your own feelings on the use of HRT, this might still not be an unreasonable option in the short term.
See a doctor right away. If you are over 50 and female it's menapause
If you're drinking alcohol before bed and not drinking enoug water this could be a fact in your sleeping problems. Or maybe your room is too warm? So drink plenty say 2 litres of water a day for 2-3 days and hopefully this will work. Or you could go see your doc you know. After all thats what they're there for! x x
iv had them 7 years and still going,
I know a woman who is going through menopause, but refuses to take hormones. She has had symptoms for 6 years.
man that sucks.
you be menopausal go to the doctors
Still get the occasional, slight flush, at 70!
Don't do pills.
Suggest you have a diabetic check, from your GP (Doctor) as I believe hot flushes may be a result of this.
Best of luck.
I am going through the menopause. Started it when I had chemotherapy. That was 6 years ago and I am sorry to say this but it's still going on although not so bad. I call them my power surges !!

Can anxiety cause my muscles to be painful?

Answer:
yes, stress and anxiaty can do a lot of things to you. its a mind over matter kind of thing, take deep breaths and relax for a while and it should go away
Yes.If your muscles are tensed up for long periods of time, then they don't have a chance to naturally repair themselves, hence the aches and pains.I have the same problem.
take a moment to think i bet you have your teeth clenched you need to listen to your body and chill relax from the top of your head down one body part at a time you will soon be chilled if you practise this g/luck
yes can do try going for a relaxin massage that should help you
When you become tense, your muscles contract %26 this then results in cramps and spasms. Anxiety %26 stress can cause a great deal of problems to your central nervous system if you are not dealing with the anxiety and reducing the stress levels. I would advise some slow deep breathing to begin with and as you exhale gently focus on your muscles and tighten and then relax them with each breath. This will help ease some of the tension stored in the muscles, it will remove some of the anxiety too. Try doing this each day, perhaps before going to bed and it will also help you sleep more peacefully too.

Can anxiety cause forgetfulness?

Answer:
Yes it can because you are preoccupied with being anxious that you don't take things in properly and forget them easily
yes, of course.
no but these two things are the symptoms of a cronic cannabis smoker...
absolutely. when your focused all the time on your anxiety you become forgetfull about everything else. i deal with it myself
Yes, yes, there is no doubt about, if it is continuing.
Yes it does.Your mind is focusing on your anxieties and blocking out other things.
yes, it's common in anxiety and depression
sure can. when ever im worrying or anxious about something im very absent minded and have to keep memory diary. when things are going well i don't seem to have the same problem.
also the menopause is a killer for problems with memory but if your really worried go to your doctors they could put your mind at rest.

Can ankle weights keep you from growing?

Answer:
No, they will just make your leg muscles stronger.
I think ankle weights would just make it harder to move around.

try cigarettes and coffee.
Yes Michael. But you'll grow sideways instead. If you believe this you'll believe anything.

Can anesthesia affect one's taste/tastebuds?

I recently had surgery and I've noticed that most food that has a sweet taste to it tastes a bit off. I was wondering if this could be caused by the anesthesia.
Answer:
It may have some effect for a short while, but anything lasting more than a few days after your procedure is very unlikely. A lot depends on the individual circumstances - type of surgery, length of stay, other medications taken during your recovery, etc., etc.
Yes it could be..it does happen.

Some meds can have this affect too
Oh yeah, for sure it can...after my surgeries, food was very dry for a few days! It takes a few days to get out of ur system and get u back to normal...some meds can also give food a metallic taste...no worries! =)
HMMM.. forgot how to taste??

Can an unkept house make you sick?

Now that I am pregnant (for the first time), it is really hard for me to keep my house as clean and sanitized like normal. I try to get my boyfriend to help, but he is the type of person who tried to wash two loads worth of clothes with a half of cup of detergent! I love him though. Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone has every heard of an unkept house making them sick?
Answer:
yes mold and bacteria can reak hell on your health and an be dangerous for your baby disinfect surfaces with something like lysol spray i would say bleach but the fumes arent good for you and if your worried about it get a good air sanitizer cleaner for the room
Yes, you need to disinfect surfaces because if you don't bacteria can spread and cause you to get ill. And a dirty house can cause allergies and it's not good for you or your family.
well it depends on how unkept it is. like if theres mold and bugs (ie ants, roches) it is not a safe place to live. but i'm sure that if it's just clutter and what not, it would drive you crazy, but not make you sick. hope that helps
No, bacteria is good for your body, there is good bacteria that you breathe in and it strengthens your immune system. If you disinfect your entire house, you will get allergic to bacteria because u always clean it off your house. Dr. Manny Alveraz is a very good doctor, he has books that talk about this.

Can all people raise their one eyebrow and shake ears?

my friend can do both.shake ears and raise thier eyebros.can everyone do it.or is it only heriditory?? acctually how can u do it??

i know my question is dum but stil..
Answer:
well its heriditory... same way like some people can roll their tounge while some cant.

Although there are some dances like "Bharatnatyam" and " Kathak" where raising eyebrows is taught. any1 can learn this. try doing it for 1-2 weeks daily you will be able to do this.
I can't shake my ears.
I could shake somethin else babes whiist u raise an eyebrow..
well i can't do either of those, i tried but i just ended up looking really retarded!
Is your friend 'Sloth' from 'The Goonies'?
wow, no i cant do it but my boyfriend can make his eyebrows dance!! its really funny and corky!
I don't know about it being hereditory or not, but I can only raise my left eyebrow and shake both me ears.
I am actually known in my family for "the eyebrow". I can raise both of them independently, but I am far better with my left one. (This sounds so weird once written down!) I actually "taught" myself when I was a kid. It is a skill that has come in useful in the past, it tends to "deflate" people who are annoying me.

Interestingly enough, my left eye has been slightly lazy since birth, and I'm pretty convinced that I subconsciously keep that eyebrow slightly lifted all the time to counterbalance my droopy eyelid. I can also wiggle my ears and flare my nostrils.

I have so much to be proud of..
I dunno, I know I can't.
no i cant do either :(
heeheehee *returns to typing after much gurning in the mirror*

Weeeell..it appears I cant move my ears without my hair moving backwards and forwards like a wig, but I have better eyebrow control than Roger Moore!!

HooooYAAA!! Do you exshpect me to talk Goldfinger?! ..No Miss V, I expect you to amuse me with your wierdly mobile eyebrows!!

On a serious note, as others have said, heredity is the key factor here...certain physiological features are coded for by certain gene variants that you may or may not have depending on your family. Not much is known about the specific genes that are responsible for these abilities.

Other examples include whether your ear lobes are attached or not, double jointedness, whether you can roll your tongue etc.

In summary as a direct answer.no, not everyone can.

Jen x
I can't shake my ears but i can do the eyebrow thing alright.
it's hereditary. Same as being able to roll your tongue.
I can roll my tongue and raise one eyebrow (Why I can't do both i don't know!) but I can't wiggle my ears.

The mystery of DNA and Genes huh? :)

Can All Ages Have High Blood Pressure?

Answer:
YES, and it can be cured by eliminating the red meat from your diet, eating raw, uncooked garlic, exercising and sleeping sufficiently, and eating fruit after every meal. (p.s, stay away from the alcohol and tobacco also.)
Yes; I suppose age doesn't matter, a person who's 10 years old could have high blood pressure if they have a history of it and are severley overweight.
yes ma'am, some people are born with it.
Yes. I'm 25 and have high blood pressure. It can affect anyone at any age.
It's hereditary.
Yes.
yes

Can a woman who isn't pregnant, have breast milk?

Answer:
Actually breast milk usually doesn't come completely until the baby is born. So when the milk comes in, technically she is not pregnant anymore.

It is normal to have a discharge come out of the nipple.

I have also hear of proper stimulation of the nipple and taking certain hormones can make a woman product milk with out ever have been pregnant.
If a woman feels that they are pregnant, then they can have breast milk. Stress, and sometimes a want of a baby can cause women to exhibit pregnancy signs.
Yes, hormones can be given to women who adopt to allow them to breast feed, but if it's unexpected it might be the symptom of a health issue.
virgin marry can give birth to Jesus , that was miracle and now another miracle may happen that a woman who is not pregnant will give milk.

but some hormonal changes may cause lectation. but scientifically only a woman who has delivered a baby will give breast milk.
no but not imposible
yes, meds from the doctor. don't know that the pills/mediction is called.
I was told by my lactation consultant that you can produce up to 10 years after birth. I dont know how true it is but I have heard several other stories of it. I have also heard of people who have never had children breastfeeding... I believe they took some medication to help produce the milk.

Can a regular physician place you on suboxone or methadone for an addiction or do you need a special doctor?

suboxone and subutex need to be prescribed by a special doctor, not every doctor can give it to you. I am not sure about methadone.

Can a person with high metabolism have clogged up arteries?

Like, I know people who EAT FATTY FOODS LIKE CRAZY but dont gain any weight because they have high metabolism. Is this bad when they grow because even though they look skinny, are their arteries clogged up?!
Answer:
Sure, your right, they can have clogged arteries, that's why they call It the silent killer
Metabolism and artery clogging are unrelated. An excess of fatty, high cholesterol foods is bad for anyone, regardless of their metabolic rate or how skinny they are.

Can a person have an orgasm by nipple stimulation?

Answer:
Some women who have ultra sensitive nipples can have a orgasm if stimulated the right way. Usually, constant fondling or rough rubbing will make the nipples numb.
Females can! males? probably.
NO! it just feels so good when they are stimulated!!
Yup. Been there, done that. Well, there was some other stuff going on during warm up, but that's how I finished.

Can a person get addicted to over the counter TYLENOL pain relief pills?

Answer:
Not addicted, BUT you can become very ill if you take too many. The body can rebound from pain. That means that the pain you were keeping away can come back worse when you stop. Tylenol is processed through the liver. Too much can destroy your liver and taking it with alcohol is even more damaging.

If you need pain relief, go to the doctor. There are other meds that work and sometimes all you need to heal is a break from the pain. PROPER use of prescription meds does NOT lead to abuse.

Feel better!!
No
Yes you can. More so if you do not use it correctly.
I bet a person could get addicted to most medications , Tylenol may be good for occasional pain but it is not good for your liver and especially bad if you drink alcohol . it can do permant damage.
They are not addictive. However, if they are misused, as in taking them too much, they will cease to work. The person's body will develop a resistance to it. It will also cause what's called a rebound headache. Really bad and hard to get rid of. Not to mention what it does to the liver.
YES!! WHEN THEY START STUTTERING THAT'S WHEN YOU KNOW YOU ARE A ADDICT TO ANY PAIN RELIEF PILLS. TRUST ME, MY SISTER WENT THROUGH THAT ORDEAL AND NOW SHE'S INSANE. FOR REAL!!
No ~ but Tylenol can cause liver failure and death if not taken right. BE CAREFUL

Can a person enter a hospital, pose as a doctor and get away with it for 2 hours?

Please help me settle a debate I鈥檓 having with my sister.

THIS IS A HYPATHICAL QUESTION!!

We recently visited a relative in the hospital. I鈥檓 a curious person by nature so I took in my surroundings. I noticed how busy a hospital is, so many staff members coming in %26 out of rooms and overall disorganization.

It crossed my mind to ask my sister, if I were to wear a doctor鈥檚 outfit, have a badge and just walk around a hospital would I get caught?

PLEASE NOTE: I also explained to my sister I would not attempt to TREAT patients 鈥?just reading off their bed chart and telling them to rest.

I say I can do 2 hours easily. As long as I鈥檓 not giving nurses orders and being disruptive I think I can easily pull this off.

My sister insists I would not last 5 minutes.

I think she is grossly mistaken.

What is your take? Do you think I could pull this off and last 2 hours?
Answer:
I think you could pull it off if you can answer patients questions as you are checking their charts, otherwise you would have to hide out somewhere in the hospital. My father is a surgeon, I used to go on his rounds with him, his patients asked alot of questions.
You are looking at a long jail sentence. Why are you even discussing such a ridiculous idea?
Haha I think this calls for an experiment. And 2 hours would be easy. Most doctors can hide from patients and bosses for 2 hours easily. And most of the time, they do. Lol.
depends on what hospital.. if the security sucks and it's a busy day, anyone with a white coat (and who looks clean enough xD) can play doctor for a few hours.
hm...i wouldn't push it all the way to 4 hours, but you can definetly make an hour. if i were you, i'd try it some day - unless you're really scared of getting caught (which i am) because i'm sure there's some kind of law against it

Can a person achieve 20/20 vision with astigmatism?

Is lasik or lasek surgery best to treat astigmatism?
Answer:
Yes, it is possible. My girlfriend had BAD astigmatism, and she just had LASIK. Not only did she achieve 20/20, her astigmatism was corrected.
not really but here.

http://www.ladarvision.com/eyes/20-20-vi...
Yes. I have Astigmatism and until I was almost 30 had 20/20 vision. As you get older the astigmatism will impact the vision as bit more. I'm not sure about laser eye surgery since my vision is still good enough to avoid looking into it.

Can a O positive person give blood to any other type?

Answer:
yep, O's are the universal donors. Pay attention to your rh factor though (o+ or o-)
O negatives can

O positives can only donate in the positive types
They can give to anyone with any letter positive blood type.
No it is O negative that can donate to anyone.
It's the MOST common, so I would say yes.
No, just an O negative blood type can do that.
Yes, they can, O is also known as universal donor.
Yes, a 0 positive person can give blood to any other type but can only take blood from a person that has blood type 0,too.
Yes. O types can give to all other blood types, being the universal donor. On the other hand, AB is the universal recipient.

A person with type A blood can donate blood to a person with type A or type AB. A person with type B blood can donate blood to a person with type B or type AB. A person with type AB blood can donate blood to a person with type AB only. A person with type O blood can donate to anyone.

A person with type A blood can receive blood from a person with type A or type O. A person with type B blood can receive blood from a person with type B or type O. A person with type AB blood can receive blood from anyone. A person with type O blood can receive blood from a person with type O.
Type O-negative blood does not have any antigens. It is called the "universal donor" type because it is compatible with any blood type. Type AB-positive blood is called the "universal recipient" type because a person who has it can receive blood of any type. Although "universal donor" and "universal recipient" types are occasionally used to classify blood in an emergency, blood type tests are always done to prevent transfusion reactions.
Almost 40% of the population has O+ blood

Patients with Type O blood must receive Type O blood

About half of all blood ordered by hospitals in our area is Type O

Type O blood is the universal blood type and is the only blood type that can be transfused to patients with other blood types

Only about 7% of all people have Type O negative blood

Type O negative blood is the preferred type for accident victims and babies needing exchange transfusions

There is always a need for Type O donors because their blood may be transfused to a person of any blood type in an emergency

Can a neighbor's exhaust fumes cause carbon monoxide symptoms?

I live in a seniors mobile home park, and my mobile home is rather old and has no A/C. I have a neighbor who had someone start an old car of hers the other day, and she left it running for over an hour. I could smell exhaust fumes all through my house.

For the rest of that day and the following, I had vague symptoms -- headache, slight nausea, light-headedness. Shortness of breath, though some of that's expected during allergy season. I felt very lethargic.

I'm fine now. Might this have been CO, or was it possibly just the general heat or a bug of some kind?

Best guess, please.
Answer:
Yes it could have been carbon monoxide you need to get you a detector they are not that expensive and I know from past experience that if you leave a car open and the fumes enter your house it will set the alarm off. Them you get out and report neighbor to cops or fire department.
I think you have to be closed in to get co poisoning, but that is not to say that the fumes didn't make you sick, just not carbon mon. poisoning
You would not have gotten carbon monoxide poisoning as you were not in an enclosed space right with the vehicle. Your symptoms probably were just from smelling the exhaust but not a sign of poisoning. The car was out in the open so there was plenty of air ciculating around it.
Exhaust fumes are nauseating Talk to the neighbor next time it happens. Some will understand. Close your windows.

Can a MRI Tech detect an abnormality?

I know the Radiologist has to look at it and the tech is not supposed to say anything. But can they usually tell if there is something abnormal beforehand? And is it customary if they don't see anything for them to say everything looks fine?
Answer:
You can usually tell during the MRI if something is abnormal and it really stands out. If they don't see anything they can say everything is fine. After the MRI is done the radiologist looks over the films very carefully to make sure he/she didn't miss anything.

Can a mosquito withdraw blood from a scab?

Answer:
Hi there.
If he can get his proboscis in, he can get the blood. A heavy scab will be too tough, but around the edges or newly formed would be easy.
Cheers, Steve.
Not from a scab directly as it has no blood supply of its own. In theory they could get under the scab and drink from there but it is unlikely - they like easy targets! Bless them.

Can a minor legally purchase salvia?

I have found a headshop in my state but am skeptical about visiting because of my age (17). I intend to buy salvia.. but dunno if they would sell me it.

Thanks
Answer:
Purchasing salvia is perfectly legal for minors except in the states which prohibit it: Louisiana, Missouri, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Delaware.
Why wouldn't they, it's a legal plant
Some states may vary, if I were you, I would go in and ask them first.

Can a medical biller or coder wear scrubs if they WANT to?

I am going to school for this and I would prefer to wear them. If anyone is doing this currently please let me know if it is an option if you want to wear them. Thank you!!
Answer:
It depends on where you work, but I've never seen one in scrubs.
I just enrolled into Medical Insurance and Coding at Remington College, and it's something that we're required to wear. It's definitely not an option; it's the dress code on campus. The only way for you to know is to ask your instructor. Good luck to you and your career!

Can a doctor's receptionist get information on a non patient ?

to clarify can a doctor's receptionist get information on her computer sytem on a patient who is not registered at that surgury? ( asking because of confidentiality breech)
Answer:
no, unless that place where the person works has access to other doctor's patients, which is highly unlikely.
You say the word "patient" later after non-patient. If the information is on a medical system, then it is more than likely covered under HIPPA (privacy act) and you would open yourself up to possible trouble. Stick to the internet or phone book to be safe!
