I just wanted to know if its normal to not have bowel movements for a long period of time. When I say long I mean and average of between 4-7 days. I am asking now because I haven't had a movement since last Monday which makes it 9 days now. I mean the reason I don't have one for a few days at least is because I don't go unless I really really feel like I have to go. So I just wanted to know if I should try and go even when I don't really feel like it or if I should just wait for it.
Answer:
First thing, dont try and force it because you could cause damage and bleed from the anus. Your diet is very important to keeping healthy bowel movement. Eating plenty vegetables and fruit can insure that you have healthy bowels, whilst drinking plenty of water not only helps the bowels but helps flush the toxins from your system.
It is not uncommon to go without a movement for a period of days but my suggestion is this: seek advice from a medical practioner, a doctor will be able to rule out other problems that could be causing you this lack of bowel movement and put your mind at rest.
Laxatives are a temporary solution to your problem and I wouldnt rely on them totally to help you go to the bathroom, you do need to see your doctor to rule out any underlying cause and I hope that you get sorted out soon!
That is a long time.
I would try to go.
it is best to have one everyday that is waste sitting up in your body poisoning your system get rid of it. it can cause colon cancer
if you are eating regularly, you should be moving your bowel everyday
Nine days is a while. 4-7 days is also a while. The most common cause of constipation is dehydration. Try drinking lots of water. There are lots of over-the-counter products that can help get things moving. Everything from stool softeners to laxatives to suppositories to enemas. If you're having pain, you'll want to call your doctor.
There could be several reasons why you go so long without a bowel movement. You should start a laxative and see your Dr. if you do not produce a bowel movement. Magnesium Citrate is available at your local drug store for around a dollar.
I suspect the problem is your diet. Increase you fiber intake or try a product like metamucil.
We need to go to the bathroom and have a bowel movement every day.
It takes all those nasty toxins out of our body and helps us.
Without a bowel movement people can get sick, tiredness, and more seriously ill than immagined.
